Gross & Fine Motor Skills

Young children need time to practise using their gross motor skills in everyday situations to develop their control and coordination of their bodies. Gross motor skills lay the foundation to be able to complete fine motor skill movement such as pinching or grasping needed for writing and cutting. A gross motor program is incorporated in the school’s daily morning routine for all students, Kinder to Year 6. Fine motor skills are a daily occurrence in the K12 classroom and a weekly session for the older students.

The choir also performs each term at school parent assemblies, for the residents at the local care facility, for weekly and parish Masses and at the end of year presentations. Singing with others contributes to wellbeing: positive mood, is engaging, promotes relationships with others, improves memory and concentration, enhances lung function, boost confidence and can afford a strong sense of accomplishment.
